Katie has been passionate about animals since she was a young girl, growing up in Folsom surrounded by a variety of pets including dogs, cats, hamsters, rats, and fish. Her love for animals naturally extended to horseback riding and showing horses, which she enjoyed throughout her childhood. From a young age, Katie knew she wanted a career dedicated to animals. After high school, she pursued her dream by attending Mesa College in San Diego, where she earned her RVT license in 2006.
Today, Katie lives on a farm in Lincoln with her husband, two young daughters, and a menagerie of animals, including goats, chickens, horses, two big dogs, and three cats. Her days are filled with caring for her animals, horseback riding, hiking with her dogs and family, capturing moments through photography, and enjoying time on the water boating. Katie’s deep-rooted connection to animals and her diverse experiences make her a compassionate and knowledgeable veterinary professional dedicated to providing the best care possible.

Hi! My name is Kim. I am a dog trainer and an RVT. I have been an RVT for over 25 years, but my true passion is dog training. I have been training dogs for 35 years. In the beginning of my career, I was trained by a mentor who did everything from show dogs to protection dogs to service dogs. Since then, I have continued learning through behavior classes and experience. My work in veterinary practices has given me a unique understanding of dogs who are stressed or have fear issues.
Originally, I started out training family dogs with the goal of making them great companions and an integral part of their families. I found that in order to accomplish that I also had to help people understand and work with their dogs. Over the years my training has expanded to include working with dogs that have issues such as fearfulness, aggression, and separation anxiety. I work both in the home and out in public.
As a certified Canine Good Citizen evaluator, I try to be sure that every dog I train can pass that test if the owner chooses to take it. My training consists of positive behavior modification, obedience exercises, and patience. Dogs are very intelligent animals and with the right type of training they can become important and enjoyable companions for the entire family.
