Dr. Christina Venable (aka Dr. V) is passionate about providing an integrative approach to patient care that combines a traditional medicine approach with several other integrative multi-modal care options to find a personalized health care plan to treat a pet’s pain, chronic disease, injury, or other health concerns.
After completing her veterinary degree at UC Davis, she worked as a general practitioner. During this time, Dr. V became frustrated with the limited options available for treating a pet’s pain and mobility issues, especially as they aged. She was dismayed to see neurological dogs being euthanized because they couldn’t walk and owners were unable to do a $10,000 surgery, and delayed recoveries from orthopedic surgeries. Seeing this deficit in patient care prompted her to seek out alternative options to help these patients that was something more than just another pill or some other shot.
Since then, Dr. V has pursued additional education in alternative options for our beloved pets. She has completed certification in Medical Acupuncture through the Curacore MAV program in Colorado and in Canine Rehabilitation through the University of Tennessee. She also completed the rigorous training program to become a Certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner through the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management.
She currently lives in the Mendocino Coast area in the middle of a redwood forest with 2 dogs (a needy belgian malinois, and a malin-mutt), 2 llamas (one with a deep love of apples and the other with one eye and deep love of being lazy), and a flock of chickens.
Dr. V is excited to consult with the doctors at Stonebridge Veterinary Wellness to provide guidance on additional ways they can help manage the conditions causing your pet’s pain and discomfort.
